Why Hire A Personal Stylist

Thanks to the internet, there are so many options for those who want to feel amazing in their wardrobe each and every day- hiring a personal stylist isn’t just reserved for celebrities!!!

Even though hiring a personal stylist is something you can do to help you achieve your goals (and feel more confident), I often hear people downplay the importance of feeling amazing in our clothing because “it shouldn’t matter.”

My recommendation

Think of hiring a personal stylist the same way you’d hire a personal trainer to help you get fit, or a chef to cook you dinner to save you time and eat a delicious meal.

Hiring a personal stylist is a strategic way to feel more confident in your clothes and improve your professional image. Most of my clients have never worked with a wardrobe consultant before. But, after we finish working together they are thrilled with the experience.

Here are 7 common reasons my clients have hired me as their personal stylist:

1. Your body is going through transitions (gaining or losing weight) and you don’t know how to dress for it.

Although I am active, there are times when I feel more bloated, gain weight, or even lose weight. My clients and community have gone through the same thing. Going through these physical changes can be tricky for how to manage your style. But you can still dress confidently, no matter where you are on your journey and you deserve to feel incredible EVERY time to get dressed. A Personal stylist for hire will help you find clothing that work for your current body and any changes you expect to go through.

2. You’re bored with your wardrobe.

One of the most common style challenges that I hear from my friends and clients is style boredom. Recently, my client Maria above, shared with me:

I buy the wrong things and I could use some key basic pieces, I can mix and match. I want to look polished and put together".

Guess What? I get it!!!

Style boredom happens slowly, over time and then all of a sudden you realize that your wardrobe doesn’t reflect who you are TODAY, you aren’t excited about it and it causes more negative feelings than positive ones.

Look how current and polished Maria looks. She lives in NYC, The color black is her go to outfit but look how I changed it around. CHIC right??? Plus I have to say she even looks like she is thinner, which she isn't!!!

At Style By Soneca, I use a true and tried system that is a combination of 4 Essential Tips that will to help clients avoid style boredom. I help my clients in the New York City Metropolitan area build a closet full of well-fitting, high-quality, essentials.

My unique system makes it easy for clients to feel excited about their clothes and style, and NOT feel bored!!!

3. You hate shopping.

f I had a dollar for every time I heard a client say they hate shopping, I’d be vacationing every month. The level that people hate shopping knows no bounds and I get it.

Even though New York has some of the best shopping in the world, the amount of brands, products, styles, colors, and choices can overwhelming that for some it’s best just not to even attempt to step inside a store to try to figure it out.

A personal stylist will prepare dressing rooms with clothing options for you in advance .This means you can just walk in the store and start trying on immediately. No need to search for what you’re looking for. And if your especially busy and don't live in my surrounding area,

Let's do Virtual Styling!

4. You’re tired of buying clothing…and then never wearing it.

Have you heard that on average, people only wear about 20% of their wardrobe?

What about the other 80%?

Well, most people hold on to it because they think that it will be perfect for X event (that’s not in their calendar), that they’ll be able to fit it again (putting so much pressure on themselves) or it was such a bargain (even though it took 4 hours to find it)

Holding onto items that you’ve never worn and then keeping them in your closet is a constant reminder of the shopping mistakes that you’ve made.

The worst part?

You feel bad every time that you see those clothes!

As a personal stylist , I often tell clients to be ‘ruthless’ with their closets. Not only do packed closets take up a lot of physical space, but they also take up a lot of mental space too.

If you’re having a hard time with this, then I encourage you to add 5 lbs of weight to every piece of clothing in your closet. Do some mental math and get a total of how much weight you have in your closet. If you haven’t done a closet edit in years, then you’ll easily have over 300 lbs’ of physical and mental weight stemming from your closet.

Control your closet. Control your style.

When you free yourself from clothing you don’t wear, don’t like, or that doesn’t fit you anymore, you make space (physically and mentally) for items that you actually like to come into your life.

5. You've tried doing it yourself but just haven’t gotten it right

Thanks to the internet, there are so many ways that you can update your style– everything from subscription boxes, apps ,and even in-person styling experiences.

Feeling and looking amazing every day is no longer just for celebrities.

I’ve had clients who tried Stitch Fix and Trunk Club in the past.

While it was good for them at the time, especially as their first experience with upgrading their style, they were now craving more personalization to THEIR lifestyle, body type, and style goals.

6. You’re up for a promotion and want to be seriously considered.

You’ve been working your way up the corporate ladder and are up for a big promotion. Or maybe you’re an entrepreneur managing a business, building a team, and meeting clients.

When you reach certain professional levels, people notice the small details that others don’t– your style is one of those things.

This is especially important in cities like New York, where you need to be at the top of your game.

The good news is that your style and how you present yourself are within your control.

My client, Andrew (above), was up for a big promotion.

To enhance his professional image and style, Andrew hired me about six months before he was up for promotion and now feels more confident walking into his office every day.

If you need to improve your professional style, you want a stylist for hire that is an expert in styling successful executives and business owners.

7. You’re busy and free time isn’t easy to come by.

My clients are successful women and men all over the country

What’s the one thing that they always have in common- their TIME! And lack of it.

They are busy working their way up the corporate ladder, starting a business, and spending time with their loved ones. Figuring out what to buy or spending hours wandering around shops (and scrolling through online stores) isn’t worth their time.

So they hire me to do it for them.

In fact, many of my clients report that hiring a virtual personal stylist actually helps them be more efficient , with their time. This is especially important in fast-paced environments like New York City.
